Anamorphosis

Many angles. One vision. Fandango shines.

“Anamorphosis” is a permanent art installation custom tailored to the architecture of Fandango’s new headquarters in Los Angeles. At the intersection of entertainment and technology, “Anamorphosis” embodies Fandango’s role in redefining the way people think about movies while creating an exciting and dynamic experience for employees and visitors. As visitors first enter the atrium, they discover a cluster of hanging LED prisms that seemingly animate distorted images and sliced up segments of abstract visual content. As visitors move around the space, they discover that from certain vantage points the distorted LED prisms reconstruct and reveal a complete visual in its true form.

Technical Highlights

The installation is comprised of 7 custom LED prisms in various heights, with two faces lined with LED pixels at every 2.5mm. Structure and electronics were custom designed to meet weight and architectural restrictions. Visual prototypes were tested with CAD simulations and scale mockups on site to fine tune the viewing experience before the final LED prisms were fabricated.

Creative Process

We developed and tested multiple prototypes—both small scale and full 1:1 scale—alongside 3D program simulations to ensure the optical illusion aligned perfectly from key viewing angles. The team also coordinated on-site installations to refine alignment, guaranteeing that the final experience delivered the intended reveal effect.
